EyesOnFox.org Mission Statement

“Fair, Balanced and Unafraid.”

A statement that Brit Hume has made at the conclusion of his weekday Special Report political news show for years in reference to his show and Fox News in general.

“Fair and Balanced.”

The motto and claim of the Fox News Network, repeated during segments of various shows on the news network and on-network advertisements.

Extraordinary claims for a news network, the #1 cable news network and a network that other TV news outlets are attempting to emulate in format. Certainly there has been bias in other networks on many occasions and in some cases, egregious examples such as the night of Clinton’s first Presidential victory during NBC’s coverage, where the news panel which inlcuded Bryant Gumble and John Chancellor among others, openly smiling and almost coming to tears over the result.

Extraordinary claims, require extraordinary proof, or in this case, example. And thus we focus on Fox since no other news service makes such claims.

We at EyesOnFox.org plan to observe and comment on how accurate this claim is, backed up by specific examples of shows on Fox, with names, dates and in some cases, video to validate our point of view.

We have observed in the past, large fluctuations in how Fair and Balanced Fox really was. Notably during the 2004 election, they fulfilled their promise, in our opinion, of being Fair and Balanced. But since then and especially in recent months, their claims of Fair and Balanced have been spotty at best and even hypocritical to their format of gearing their shows to traditional family values and an American way.

We hope our observations will be of a variety not seen before by other “Fox Watchers”, showing the more subtle examples of why Fox is failing in its promise. We also note that we here at EyeOnFox.org may not always agree with each other’s points or observations, but that should be a rare occasion.

We also do not intend to be faceless here and will not hide our political beliefs, where we are coming from, or if anyone is sponsoring us(which no one is).
