Neil Cavuto agrees Charlie Gibson is a “pretentious, condescending jerk” and Katie Couric is a “rodent”
I saw this over at Crooks & Liars and feel compelled to post it. Not because, as John Amato points out, Don Imus states matter of factly “I think he [McCain] has… I really do think he has the potential to be a great president and we just hope he doesn’t die” with Neil Cavuto sitting on the sidelines laughing – pointing out the hypocrisy of the right who bitch every time an Obama supporter brings up the age issue. Nor because it’s further proof that Cavuto is conceding a McCain defeat as guest poster Dan over at News Hounds seems to think it is significant. These issues are rather dull political nitpicking.
No, what interests me is the frustration of Neil Cavuto (and Don Imus) that the media isn’t in the tank for McCain and Palin they way Fox News is.
It’s the long-standing conservative hypocrisy they hate media bias as they flock to heavily ideologically slanted sources of ‘information’ like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Hugh Hewitt, and my favorite: Fox News.
Don Imus’ frustration boils over as he notes Sarah Palin didn’t do well in interviews with “that pretentious, condescending jerk Charlie Gibson or that rodent Katie Couric.”
Neil’s reaction? He lets it slide other than asking him to repeat what he called Couric after which he agrees with Imus saying “okay, I just wanted to be clear.”
If a liberal said anything like this about one of the conservative reporters over at Fox News do you think Neil would go with it? Hardly. Worse, even if he doesn’t play a hypocrite in such situations it’s highly unprofessional journalism.
